Friends of ours from Mooi River, South Africa own a house near Cordes sur Ciel, not far from Toulouse. When they heard that we would be house sitting in the South of France they said why didn’t we take a few days and visit them. We looked at how far away they were and decided it was an excellent idea. They have a beautiful property with a large dam and a big garden that will be even more beautiful once Claire has finished with it. They have a lovely view of the dam on the one side and the castle of Cordes in the distance on the other.
On the Sunday we went with their two big dogs accompanying us, to a local, busy nearby market. We bought some fresh oysters, bread, cheese and olives. We stopped for a coffee break in a lovely square and then went back to their house for our very yummy lunch.
Monday was spent visiting the cobbled and beautiful streets of Cordes sur Ciel. The fortified town Cordes was built in 1222 by Raimond VII, the Count of Toulose. On Tuesday it was time to say goodbye and make our long journey to Germany for our next house sit. Thanks so much Claire & William for a wonderful stay 😊
